Why?

Dec 2011, I miscarried what would have been my 7th baby, in the 12th week of my pregnancy.  I was 41.  Many spiritual things surrounded the event, but one of them was that YHVH (The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob) revealed to me how precious life is.  Also how important my role as wife and momma is to my family and how this body is in fact...not what it used to be 20 years ago!  This reality check made me want to reclaim my physical health so that I may live long and prosper for the sake of my family.

I am not aware of any specific health issues I may have lurking, so this is coming from a proactive place.    Even though this type of radical juicing has been known to cure many serious and life threatening diseases, it is safe (and wise) for anyone to do!  Having said all that, I am about 50 pounds overweight and not in sound "athletic" condition. I would love to change that as well.  This is my first step in that process.

To give a general lifestyle picture:  I was a  vegetarian for 10 years (15 years ago!).  For that last 15 years, I have eaten a whole foods organic diet (eating grass fed meats, organic produce, cutting out "convience foods", organic local poultry and raw milk, etc.).  I am not new to the idea of food and health.  For the last 6 years we have kept Biblically Kosher.  I have gone through seasons of making sure we had a raw percentage of food on the table for every meal, and I must admit it doesn't look healthy to me unless there is.  I have juiced over the years, but never seriously - just as a supplement to meal.  I have drunken green juice before, but never juiced it myself, because my Champion couldn't handle it.   We have treated our family naturally as a rule, using herbs and alternative medicines for common ailments and always seek to treat things naturally and holistically having homebirths, etc.  My birth children have not been vaccinated and my adopted kids, not since I have had them in our care.   We drink filtered water and don't use fluoride...we are pretty aware.   So doing something "strange" like this should not be a surprise to those who know me.  :-)  However, we eat out and eat with others who don't keep all these standards and we enjoy sweets, (although we use whole food ingredients in what we make at home)... we may bring things in from time too to time.  My husband loves to indulge and who was I to stop him?  (tee hee)

This feast/fast is going to be used to kick start a higher level of commitment and stewardship in our family's diet...it starts with me...the one who shops, grows, plans and prepares the food.  We'll see what happens from here.

Spiritually speaking I think there is something to be said for the Original diet plan given to Adam and Havah in the Garden, by YHVH... but that is a topic that may be addressed in another season I suppose.
